Metropolitan Hospitality Management (Metropolitan) is focused on hospitality development. We bring together more than 100 years of management experience. We have overseen more than $300 million in capital projects, currently control $150 million in assets, and manage each with an aim to improve customer and staff experience, while conserving the environment.

 

We provide a comprehensive real estate property management platform. Our experience is broad and deep, and our management team is dedicated to enhancing capital value and long-term return on investment. Len Wansbrough, CPA-CGA

PRESIDENT

Len’s professional development includes extensive experience retail, residential and commercial development. Len’s involvement  includes project development and management of hotels, restaurants, senior’s housing  and commercial and residential construction on Vancouver Island. Since 1983, he has managed both residential and commercial rental properties with a portfolio of over 500 units. He is a past President of West Shore Chamber of Commerce. Len also lends himself to several community and industry organizations.

Phil Leedham, CPA-CMA

VICE PRESIDENT FINANCE

Phil has worked in project financing and commercial lending for over 17 years. He has been involved in many residential, commercial and mixed use development Real Estate transactions throughout his career.

 

He has extensive experience in analyzing and evaluating business plans to determine key risk and success factors, as well as negotiating complex contractual arrangements while focusing on mutually beneficial outcomes. Phil is an effective communicator and possesses the ability to speak plainly through complex issues and draw conclusions or frame problems succinctly.

 

A natural team leader, he has a proven track record of motivating and leading small teams to high performance. Phil’s philosophy is to provide the right tools and training to raise the overall effectiveness of the organization.

Patti Barker, CHA

VICE PRESIDENT HOSPITALITY

Patti brings over 25 years’ experience as an Executive Hospitality Consultant, whose prime focus has been in operations and sales management.

 

As a successful negotiator of major contracts; her proven ability to customize one-on-one training programs; along with her detailed sales and marketing plans, Patti has shown continuous success in generating improved revenue, satisfaction scores and employee engagement.

 

Working alongside Len and his teams, Patti has proven herself as an invaluable asset and has helped create many opportunities to grow and develop the business.

KariAnn Burmaster, CPA, CA MBA

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

As a highly motivated and results orientated professional, KariAnn has a proven track record of lifting up the organizations of which she has been apart. KariAnn takes a great deal of pride in serving as trusted resource and advisor and works tirelessly to ensure the security, profitability and long term success of the organization. KariAnn provides the expertise, guidance, and tools necessary for our organization to implement transformational programs and achieve critical business objectives.

 

KariAnn is responsible for key operational functions including accounting, budgeting, accounts payable, payroll, human resources, administration, treasury, governance and internal controls, and investor relations. Additionally, KariAnn has extensive experience working with Board of Directors and Board Committees as well as managing multiple stakeholder relationships.

Stephen Crann

REGIONAL DIRECTOR OF HOTEL OPERATIONS

Stephen is an experienced and skilled General Manager with expertise in hotel management, beverage operations, vendor relations, profit and loss management and guest operations. Stephen has a proven background in improving operational turnaround. He is well recognized as an efficient Manager and team player who generates significant growth in hotel revenue and effectively motivates personnel to provide superior customer service.

Bill Gowing, CPA, CGA

CONTROLLER

Bill brings his 16 years of experience in public accounting to our firm. Bill is responsible to maintain control over revenues, expenses, assets, and liabilities of the various companies we manage. He supports the supervision and training to accounting & night audit staff members. Preparing property budgets, as well as ensuring that all financial record keeping and reporting functions are accomplished by company policy, procedure, and requirements.

Lloyd Wansbrough

PROPERTY MANAGER

With extensive experience in the building supply and construction industries, Lloyd is involved daily with the commercial operation and support of all existing and future residential and commercial tenants. He is dedicated to the success and security of the properties he manages. Lloyd is also involved in the West Shore Chamber of Commerce, Scouts Canada, and other community and industry organizations.

Max Mckenzie

PROPERTY MANAGER

Max works within our residential and commercial management division. He now manages approximately 300 residential and commercial units within our portfolio, specializing in revenue management, and customer service. Max loves his work and interaction with clients. He brings together an extensive experience and local network.

Tom Wansbrough

PROJECT ACCOUNTANT

Tom started with the company by filling several roles at Chemainus Gardens and Coastal Offices before coming on as the Project Accountant with Metropolitan. He has a BBA in Accounting from Camosun College and is currently working towards his CPA designation.

Erin Knowles

BOOKKEEPER

Erin brings 15 years experience in bookkeeping to Metropolitan, and has been with the company since 2011. She holds a diploma in Financial Management, Professional Accounting. Erin’s eye for detail and love of accuracy has made her an excellent team member.

Nicole Greiner

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE

Nicole fell in love with bookkeeping in school and decided to pursue a career in Accounting; now holding her BBA from Camosun College. After years working alongside family, she has also acquired a proficiency in administration. These skills, along with her plans to pursue her CPA, have made her a valuable member at Metropolitan.

Ocean Dennie

ADMINISTRATION

Ocean brings over a decade of office administration and management experience to the Metropolitan Capital Partners team. With a degree in Economics and a Law degree from Osgoode Hall specializing in International Law, he has held positions in property management, immigration law and the non-profit sector. He has traveled extensively and has taught English as a Second Language in Mexico, Colombia, Vietnam and here in Canada.
